We Gather Together

Before the day goes on, I want to wish everyone of my readers a Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you all for reading, liking, and commenting; I hope you have enjoyed.

I am thankful for many things this day, but above of all, I am thankful for…this day! and everyday I am blessed to wake up and witness God’s wonders around me.

And of course, I am ever thankful for my beautiful family (and pet bird, who can be rather loud but lovable) and my amazing friends (Lydia, Anna, Mary Rose, Eliza, Kateri and the rest of their wonderful family, plus Frances and the rest of her wonderful family).

Another quick thing I am thankful for is…I FINISHED MY NOVEL!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Give Thanks to the Lord, for he is good.

(P.S. I would have named you all, dear family, but that would have taken a long time…You know who you are, LOVE YOU!)

20 Days in, 10 to Go

I was looking through my novel again today—reading over some old chapters—and found this:

The dances were much slower songs were without rhythm.

Hmm… I wonder what that is suppose to mean?

Well, it’s getting down to the wire and we’re all a little tired, right?

Keep writing and Happy November!

The Making of a Cover

What else makes writing novels fun? … doing the artwork for said novel!

Here is the cover artwork I did for my latest book.  I drew it back before NANO started, just to give myself some inspiration on what I want my characters to look like.

This—as you can see—is the start.  Here we have the main character and his trusty horse.  (Well, their heads anyway…)

This fellow here, well, he’s a main c. too, but not the title character.

He is the little brother—if you will.  Ready and waiting is he, with his bow (not seen) and quiver full of arrows.  Hopefully he’ll never run out…

And now, everyone is all drawn out.

Screen Shot 2014-11-09 at 3.45.54 PM

And almost all coloured…

And done!

From left to right: Bernard, Farerick, Parish, Broderick, Deyorn, and Eryn.

(As for where Bernard’s quiver is, I do not know…Mistakes will happen!)

So anyway, for this picture, I used mostly watercolours, with some pen—Pitt Pens, that is—and a little bit of coloured pencil.

10/31/14: It Was a Dark and Stormy Night…(No, Really)

Screen Shot 2014-10-31 at 9.57.29 PM

I never thought I would work so hard in my life.  It was long days, trying to convince everyone that this was the right path to take.  I know it is going to be hard, I know it is going to be painful.  I worry for my life, for the life of my little brother as I watch him sleep beside me.  We both know what the outcome of this fight could be, but in the end, we remind ourselves what the cost will be if we cower into the shadows as they wish.  I wonder what the future holds for us when we cannot stand together like brothers in arms?

(Excerpt from my novel this year)

Is everyone ready? Good luck and happy writing!!

Throwback Thursday: A Birthday Wish

I always hear about “Throwback Thursdays”, and thought it would be funny to do one on here some day.  Well, today seemed like the right day.
I would just like to take this moment on this blog of mine and tell a very important person in my life,
Happy Birthday! Thank you for all you do and for always being
there when I need you.
You are a beautiful lady and I’m very blessed to call you Mother.

Three Lads in a Stable—10 More Days

Screen Shot 2014-10-21 at 5.21.58 PM

Three lads sit in a stable and wait
One already knows his fate
the others still must sit and wait
And wait, must we, ten days still
to write our stories—gee, what a thrill!

15 Years of Fellowship

If you’ve read my blog before, you know that I am a Lord of the Rings fan.  That being said, I feel it is an obligation to mention that 15 years ago today, P.J. began filming these movies.

Screen Shot 2014-09-11 at 12.14.29 AM

And thus it was a Fourth Age of Middle-earth began, and the Fellowship of the Ring, though eternally bound by friendship and love, was ended.  Thirteen months to the day since Gandalf sent us on our long journey we found ourselves looking upon a
familiar sight . . . We were home!

25 Days and Counting!

Is anyone out there as excited as I am for NANOWRIMO to start? Well, if you are writing up ideas, re-writing up better ones, playing out scenes in your head as you’re trying to sleep, spending all your spare time writing down more ideas—alright I almost have my whole book written down—HUH!—then yeah, you’re about as excited…

I cannot help it—it just excites me! The thought of all that writing, who knows how many people across the world spending November writing down their own personal stories.  But when I am through thinking of all that part, I think of my own story.

Last year was my first year participating.  I reached my word-count goal, which was about 40,000—(I even went over it a bit).  Anyway, just for fun, I tested out theWord-Count Goal Calculator to see what it said my word count could be…it said 171,360… Not really what I had in mind, but whatever.  (Not that I wouldn’t love to write a novel with 171,360 words, but I just don’t see it working out very well.)

So anyway, if you are a novel-writing lover like myself, feel free to leave comments on your experiences! Do any of you know yet what your novel shall be about, or do to just wing it when November 1st hits?

Found Again

In honor of National Poetry day, I should like to recite a poem, entitled: Found (Sequel to poem, “Alone Again“)

She looked out the window in the clear autumn morning
The happiness she found came without warning
On her face was that smile
she’d lost for a while
On her chest sat a Cross
which she also had lost
Sitting beside her was her new husband
“The best man,” said she, “in all the land!”
He looked at her, her smile was bright
it outshone every light
He placed his arm around her shoulder
the day was growing colder
She laid her head upon his chest
At last her life had rest
“I am so blessed to have found you,”
she whispered to her love true
“As am I,” he said in reply
their love shown in their eyes
And as it is said so many times
for it fills the rooms with joy and laughter
the couple went on for many more years
and lived happily ever after
