Chapter Two: The Tour

Here is the second post about our adventure in Kansas.

The first day started with going to the College—Benedictine College—to pick up my brother and his girlfriend.  After that, we drove around town for a while, looking at some of the more beautiful scenery there—and a few scenes we stumbled upon unexpectedly.  The Picture above is a picture of the Church right by B.C..  (St. Benedict Catholic Church.)

First, we went to visit the place where brother works.  Can you guess what kind of work it is?

If you said farming, well, no…but sort of…anyway, these are pictures of the vineyards where he works.  Yes, it is in fact a winery.  The couple who owns it are very kind.  We got to go on a full “behind the scenes tour”, which was pretty fascinating.

After that, we went back on the road just to see the sights and have some lunch.

You can’t really tell, but there are some horses in the picture. With all the horses in that state, it was very hard to get a good picture of them.

This one, for instance, was bound to be the greatest picture of horses—or anything—I’ve ever gotten, but by the time I noticed them and got my camera out, it was too late.  “Too bad, so sad…”

I did, however, manage to snap a picture of some “stray cows”.

This is a Church we drove passed on our way back to the school.  We didn’t get to go inside—because we couldn’t stop—but we later saw pictures of the inside, and let me just say, they were beautiful.  (For anyone who wants to know, it’s Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.)

Right outside one of the dorms, there is a statue of St. Joseph holding the Child Jesus.

And here is their new student center.  Wonderful name, ay?

This is one of my favorite spots on the entire campus! A beautiful shot of the Missouri River.  On the walkway there words carved in the cement that say, “the most peaceful place on earth.”  And that it is.

So that’s the end of that day.  A final picture of the sunset and river on the way back to the hotel.

Beautiful photos yet again! Ah yes, there was no shortage of “stray cows” on that trip, haha! 🙂

I love the way the sun is peeking through the corner of the JPII Student Center photo—that looks really cool. And speaking of cool, I want that weather back STAT!…
